Our speakers.

Turia Pitt

Turia is an athlete, author, mum. Surviving burns to 65% of her body during an ultramarathon, Turia Pitt is living proof that with the right mindset, anything is possible.

She’s written three best-selling books, coached over 40,000 people in her digital courses, sailed a boat around French Polynesia, competed at the Ironman World Championships, rubbed shoulders with Harry and Megs and been an answer on the game show Hard Quiz. She spends her time with her young family, writing, and teaching women how to run.

Andy Panes

Andy is General Manager at The National Institute of First Aid Trainers, an organisation dedicated to the professional development of first aid educators. He was involved in the last round of updates to the first aid units of competency and chaired the First Aid Industry Reference Committee with Skills IQ. In addition to owning and operating his own RTO for the past 15 years, Andy consults with training providers and educational institutions across Australia. Andy has been in the first aid space most of his life. Previously he has worked in both the public and private health sectors in the UK and Australia including voluntary work in Event Health Services as the State Operations Officer (Major Events) for St John Ambulance, QLD. Andy spends most of his free time on the water with his wife and two children.

PROF Julian White AM

Professor Julian White AM is a graduate of the University of Adelaide Medical School and has a special interest in clinical toxinology, having treated his first snakebite in 1976 and managed countless cases since then. He has been Unit Head and Clinical Toxinologist, Toxinology Dept. at the Women’s & Children’s Hospital, Adelaide since 1990. Prof White is also the Director of the Clinical Toxinology Resources Website (toxinology.com) and is the current President of the International Society on Toxinology Inc. He is the author/coauthor of hundreds of papers, textbook chapters, books, mostly on toxinology. In 2016 he was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in recognition of his contributions to toxinology, nationally and internationally.

DrJessica Stokes Parish RN

Jessica is a Registered Nurse (ICU) and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Bond University. She has worked in health professions education and workforce development for over 10 years. Jessica’s PhD explored the role of moulage (special effects makeup) in simulation as a tool for realism and engagement. She is an engaging and effective science communicator, having been featured in the media, podcasts and other social media. Her research interests lie in workforce development, with a particular focus on science communication (including social media), simulation-based education (including simulated participant methodology) and gender equity.

Dan Gay

Dan Gay is the Commercial Training Manager for the Australian Lifesaving Academy, the commercial training arm of Surf Lifesaving NSW (SLSNSW). Whilst primary responsibility now is leading a training team of over 80 CPR and First Aid trainers, Dan has also been delivering First Aid and Aquatic Rescue Training since 2005 following his time as a Professional Lifeguard and Learn to Swim Instructor. Each year, Dan also coordinates first aid provision for the SLSNSW State Championships.


Penny Blunden RN

Penny is your Paediatric Nurse next door, boy mum and lover of all things 90s. She has a Bachelor of Nursing and a Masters of Nursing specialising in Paediatrics. Penny is also the founder of Sick Happens. A company that teaches parents how to navigate inevitable sickness in children without fear, panic and overwhelm.

ADJAOP Glen Morrison

Adjunct Associate Professor Glen Morrison OStJ, MACPara, MBA. Glen has a broad background in healthcare leadership commencing from his association with St John Ambulance as a Cadet in helping to define his career as a Registered Paramedic. Throughout his career, Glen has worked in a variety of ranging roles including as part of the Queensland Health Executive team for the successful rollout of the COVID-19 Vaccine to Queenslanders.

Glen is also a non-executive director for the Queensland Ambulance Service Legacy Scheme and the Kenneth James McPherson Education & Research Foundation.




Dr Kavya Chaganti

Dr Kavya Chaganti MBBS FRACGP DCH Adv DRANZCOG. Dr Kavya is an Australian GP with a passion for improving health literacy and outcomes. Dr Kavya graduated from Monash University in 2014 and has developed her skills in her special interests areas including children’s health and women’s health. Dr Kavya now works as a GP-obstetrician in the suburbs of Sydney where she enjoys General Practice for its clinical variety and the opportunity for patient education and preventative health.

Grace Larson RN Sarah Duncanson RN

Grace and Sarah are paediatric critical care nurses with almost 30 years combined experience, they have been involved in clinical education and nurse consultant roles at the RCH, Melbourne. They co-founded PAEDS Education in 2020 to address a gap in the support offered to rural families of children with complex medical conditions once discharged from hospital.

Amanda Zaffino

Amanda is a Certified Child Life Specialist and mum to a toddler. With her Masters of Education: Child Life in Hospitals, Bachelor’s of Psychology, and clinical experience working in top paediatric hospitals in Chicago, Illinois; Sacramento, California; and Perth, Western Australia, Amanda has supported hundreds of families in navigating healthcare experiences with their children. Amanda started Prepared for Care in December 2022 and provides developmentally and psychologically-appropriate, evidenced-based education on how to reduce the stress of medical experiences for infants, children, and adolescents.

Sarah Hunstead RN

Sarah has over 15 years of experience in Paediatric Emergency Nursing. She has worked in various roles in the Emergency Department from Clinical Nurse Educator, Clinical Nurse Specialist and Nurse Unit Manager, and has a passion for all things paediatrics.

With a love of lifelong learning, Sarah has a Masters Degree in Clinical Practice and has also lectured undergraduate nursing students in paediatrics at The University of Technology, Sydney.


Liz Yabsley RN Zorica Rachinoski RN

Liz began her career as a paediatric nurse 17 years ago at a major children’s hospital where she worked in various acute settings before settling into her speciality of Paediatric Endocrinology. For the last 12 years, she has cared for children with Endocrine Disorders with 9 years' experience as a Paediatric Diabetes Clinical Nurse Consultant. During this time, Liz has completed various quality projects and developed clinical guidelines in collaboration with Paediatric Endocrine Nursing groups and with external bodies such as Ambulance NSW and pharmaceutical companies.



Zorica is a Paediatric Diabetes Clinical Nurse Consultant serving the Sydney South Eastern Health District. With nearly 15 years of experience, she has honed her expertise through roles including Clinical Nurse Educator and Clinical Nurse Specialist. Zorica has a postgraduate degree in Paediatric Nursing and has undergone extensive postgraduate training in Paediatric Diabetes. Currently, she is on the cusp of completing her Masters in Advanced Paediatric Nursing and Diabetes Education.
